Announcing the 23rd Reunion of the Bibb Shipmates Association

                           La Mer Beachfront Resort, Cape May, New Jersey

                                              April 23, 24 and 25, 2024

After many emails, phone calls and getting all the details finalized, the leadership is thankful to announce that our reunion in Cape May, New Jersey is set in stone.  You may now begin to make your reservations with the resort by calling one of the following numbers: (800)644-5004 or (609)770-4810.  There are several choices of rooms available to us including king beds and queen beds.  Make your reservations soon so that you have the choices.  The cutoff date for making reservations is Sunday, March, 24, 2004.

Here are important details you will need to know including, but not limited to, the cut off date for reservations, a firm and final due date for payment of your plated dinner(s), check-in and check-out days, etc.

  1.  Keeping in mind that we will be in Cape May, on the beach, in today’s inflationary times and a highly taxed state, our quoted room rate of $179.00 per night (the reunion lasts three days and nights), after several taxes and fees, will be a total of $205.18 per night, per room.  Check-in time is 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 23rd and check-out time is 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 26th.
  • Our plated dinner Thursday evening will be $55.00 per person.  There will be a cash bar available during the dinner serving beer, wine and mixed drinks for your enjoyment.  Lloyd Hensley and I (Mike Johnson) discussed having our traditional buffet dinner but found that the price per person and needing a minimum of 100 people was prohibitive.  Our dinner will start with a Field Green Salad.  Choose one of three entrees:  Chicken Parmesan, alto cucina tomatoes.  Grilled Flank Steak, truffle roast cremini mushrooms with madeira sauce.  Vegetarian option of Eggplant Napoleon, red pepper, grilled portobello mushroom, mascarpone & mozzarella cheese, grape tomato basil butter sauce.  Chef’s Selection of Sweets.  Bread, Tea, Coffee, Water. 

Mail Lloyd your entrée choice(s) along with your payment for the meal.  We must have your reservation for dinner, entrée choice and payment no later than March 24, 2024.   The resort is requiring a 30 day, in advance, notice for the number of meals and entrée selections.  We will be unable to change any numbers after March 24th.  You will receive a meal ticket on arrival inside the Shell Harbor Room.  The Shell Harbor Room will serve as our Hospitality and Meeting Room as well as our dinner Thursday evening.

  • We will have a complimentary coffee service in the Shell Harbor Room each day, all day.
  • We will now begin the process of contacting the USCG Recruit Training Center for approval to attend Recruit Graduation Ceremonies Friday morning, April 26th.  Lloyd has told me that at the last Bibb reunion in Cape May, our group was able to attend graduation Friday morning and return to the resort for checkout.  We may be able to work out a later checkout, perhaps an hour extension, but have not done that at this time.
